July Member of the Month

As we settle into the dog days of Summer it is a bright and shining time to recognize our July MOM, Cedric Poirot.

Cedric has been a dedicated member of Kendall Square CrossFit who exemplifies consistency and determination. He's only been CrossFitting for a year but recently showcased his exceptional skills and perseverance by completing our KSCF FaceOff competition. His uplifting spirit and positive attitude make him a joy to be around, and he consistently inspires those around him. Cedric can be heard asking insightful questions and showing a keen interest in improving his technique and understanding. He always receives coaching with enthusiasm and respect, making him a standout member of our community.

Usually, you can catch Cedric in one of the morning classes. Take a moment to show your deserved love for our July Member of the Month.

I have always been active. I played soccer and basketball in middle and high school. My main sport was swimming - which I did for 15 years - and I joined BU masters swimming when I moved to Boston in 2016. I also did bouldering in Cambridge from 2018 to 2020.

When Covid happened I stopped everything. I was looking for something different and my brother told me to check out CrossFit, and since my on-ramp sessions with Mario a year ago I never looked back. Most of the time I work out with the 7:15 am crew and I love that the coaches and the members are very supportive and that there are always people around pushing us to be better.

My favorite WODs are the ones that combine some running and bodyweight movements such as burpees, sit-ups, box jumps, HSPU or push-ups. My least favorite movement is overhead squat with wall balls being a close second. Everything that involves squatting is a very humbling experience for me. My goals this year will be to improve my pull-ups, ring digs, and toes-to-bar to not scale these movements anymore.

Outside of CrossFit, I like to travel and scuba dive around the world, read, run and spend time with my family. I also have a 10-month-old boy who keeps us quite busy.
